EECS Seminar: PAM-4 Designs and Test Solutions, Ethernets Revolutionary New Shift for Wireline Communications
Keysight Technologies
Abstract: Emerging standards such as 400G Ethernet (IEEE 802.3bs) and OIF-CEI (56G) are adopting pulse amplitude modulation 4-level (PAM-4) signaling to address the need for higher throughput in next-generation designs. Shifting from NRZ to PAM introduces new challenges in design and test.
Bio: Neema Shafigh is an applications engineer at Keysight Technologies (formerly Agilent Technologies). Shafigh began his career with Broadcom, working for 10 years in the R&D department on its central engineering team. During this time, he worked on characterizing Ethernet chip sets for SMB and metro –Ethernet markets. Shafigh developed new test plans; reducing testing time for faster time-to-market cutting edge products. Shafigh was a recipient of the SPOT award for his achievements in addressing the market need for more data throughput.
At Keysight Technologies, he consults with Tier 1 OEMs such as Qualcomm, Broadcom, Western Digital and HGST on their testing needs. He shares his expertise regarding the ever expanding worldwide need for data for a multitude of applications. Shafigh holds bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from UC Irvine.
