Bio:
Nick Desai is a successful serial technology, internet and mobile entrepreneur. In October 2014, Nick founded Heal to bring the values of on-demand and local together to revolutionize primary, preventative and urgent care medicine. Heal has been called the “Uber for doctors” by the New York Times. Heal’s investors include March Capital, Slow Ventures, Qualcomm Executive Chairman Dr. Paul Jacobs and even Grammy winner Lionel Richie.
Since 1997, Nick has founded/built four venture-funded start-ups, raising over $45 million from top investors including Qualcomm, Spark Capital, Anthem Blue Cross, Oracle and numerous others. Nick’s award-winning start-ups have included the web’s first self-updating address book, the first online weight loss coaching solution and pioneering software to publish rich media from phones to the internet.
Nick has been an invited speaker at Health2.0, Aging2.0, MedicineX, Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, UCLA, UC Irvine, the Montgomery Summit and numerous other events. Nick earned an MS in Electrical Engineering from UCLA after earning his BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Irvine. Nick was recently inducted in to the UC Irvine School of Engineering Hall of Fame. Nick writes for the Huffington Post and resides in the Pacific Palisades with his wife and two sons.
The Entrepreneurship Seminar Series provides a real-world introduction to the theory and practice of entrepreneurship. Through a series of presentations by prestigious entrepreneurs and industry leaders, participants will explore the various organizational, strategic and financial challenges facing successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs. Topics include start-up strategies, business idea evaluation, business plan writing, and introduction to venture capital.
